The Waiting Game

Yesterday was my last day at work, so now all that is left to do is wait for the arrival of our little boy. I've been saying all along that I think I will go early, which I say based on the fact that my mother had both her babies at 38 weeks, that he has been measuring large, and that I just have a tendency to be early generally, but realistically I could be home alone for a few weeks.

Now I've wrapped things up at work I would be happy if I went into labour at any time at this point, but I'm not entirely opposed to some downtime either. Since the baby's room is basically done, my plan is to catch up on some reading (caring for a baby, breastfeeding, etc.), finish stocking up the freezer, meet with a photographer to see if we will get newborn photos done, and maybe do something special, like get a pedicure. I also plan to mentally prepare for labour. I hope to do yoga everyday (as opposed to once or twice a week) listen to my birthing music and just set aside some time everyday to relax and breathe.

I don't think it's really sunken in yet that it's almost here. Maybe when I reach the 38 week point on Monday, or maybe when Alex goes to work on his own on Tuesday. Ready or not, he is coming soon. I can't wait to meet him.
